RITUALISTIC RUINATION
Ritualistic Ruination
mixed media installation
2020
About:
An installation piece with a plastic deer skull surrounded by artificial ivy, red string, red fabric, and bottles of water with a mix of acrylic paint in them. The deer skull hangs in the center of the piece as a focal point which gives a ritualistic feeling as if it is some sort of deity. It also hangs from the wall like a sort of hunting trophy. There is a contrast between the synthetic/manmade and the natural world. The relationship between humanity and the destruction of nature is very prevalent in this work as the red strings lead from the skull to the bottles filled with red/pink liquid.
Medium(s):
plastic bottles, plastic bags, paint, markers, tape, fabric, fake ivy
